Connected, But Alone?

SUMMARY OF VIDEO
    CONNECTED, BUT ALONE?
  TED Talk

     QUESTIONS
    1. Do you agree that technology changes who we are? Why or why not? Explain whether these changes are positive or negative.
Yes I agree technology does change our personal lives and daily like you use to go outside now you spend all your time on the computer and these are negative changes because you need physical activity and a breath of fresh air once in a while.

2.What does “alone together” mean to you?
To me it means interacting online instead of with a person when actually nobody is with you at the moment.

3.“We expect more from technology than we do from each other.” Do you agree or disagree? Explain your answer.
I agree because  all we think about is getting a response instead of trying to build up a conversation with your friend.

4.Do you think you are the same person when you text/email/comment that you are in “real life”? Why or why not? Explain. Yes because I never do anything bad on the internet.

5.Would you rather text than talk in a conversation? Why or why not. Explain your thinking. I would rather start a conversation because I don't have to type and I can actually speak and get to know a person.

6.Do you agree that technology is a form of companionship? Explain.
I think its not because there are other things that are going to be on there. What if the power goes out or the batteries run out.

      MY PERSPECTIVE
I think it is worst for high school students because they could get bullied. That leads to very bad results like suicide and nobody wants to see that happen. The other things are that there are strangers lurking on the internet and weirdo's  It reveals personal info to random people. It saves all the things you post on it good or bad. It is some time over the age of the user. The main one is cyber bullying which can happen any time and causes very bad things like suicide, kids feeling bad about their selves and everybody can see what is happening. The social media websites also keep everything you post which is bad that can lead to not having a good job and not getting into a good college. It is bad for high school students because it is putting tension on them stress like will they reply will they. It makes some people make the wrong decision. It makes people go crazy. For some people it might even make them try to hack. It makes people obsessed with games on the websites. It makes them go berserk on friends. It makes them use their parent’s credit cards and money. It makes parents feel bad that their son or daughter is on the computer all the time. You never get any sunshine or a breath of fresh air. These are all the reasons I thought might have been necessary for why social media is bad for high school kids.
